Bollywood Funk NYC Performance Class

Bollywood Funk NYC is New York City’s only dance school specializing in Bollywood Funk, a fusion dance style incorporating jazz, hip-hop & funk with the flavor of Bollywood masala. Our Performance Class is an innovative training program, designed to provide high quality dance instruction/training in this unique dance style, with a commitment to providing PERSONAL ATTENTION and DEVELOPMENT to each and every dancer.
In these classes you will:
- Take your dancing to the next performance level, and train to be the best with intensive classes and technique work to bring choreographed routines alive.
- Learn the “art of performing”, trade secrets and performing technique from a highly experienced Bollywood/Modern Jazz/Hip Hop/Funk dancer/choreographer.
- Apply what you learn to other forms of dance and movement to increase your efficiency, improve your technique and increase your versatility as a dancer in general.
WHY JOIN?
The main objective of Bollywood Funk NYC PERFORMANCE CLASS is to train and prepare you for future performances with the Bollywood Funk NYC Dance Company.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Mandatory: previous training in jazz-based dance style/s, such as: funk, hip-hop, modern jazz. Optional: training in any form of Indian classical dance, ballet or Bollywood/Filmi dance.
- Prior public stage performance experience and comfort.
- Ability to learn and retain choreography at an accelerated pace.
- Deep interest in and commitment to attending weekly Performance Class, and rehearsal/s when necessary.
- A strong sense of spirit, teamwork and collaboration.
- Familiarity with and/or interest in popular Hindi/Bollywood film and dance trends.
AUDITION DETAILS:
- DATE: Sunday, March 9, 2008
- TIME: 3:00-5:00PM
- PLACE: Steppin’ Out Studios, 37 W. 26th St. (btw Bway & 6th Ave), 9th Floor, NYC
- You MUST register to guarantee your audition spot (see below).
- You MUST send an email to contact@bollywoodfunknyc.com with “Audition” in the Subject line, with your Full Name, Phone Number, and Email Address to register.
- You MUST arrive promptly by 3:00PM. (There will be no warm up so if you need to arrive early to stretch please do so!)
- You MUST bring a hard copy of your dance resume.
- You MUST come prepared with cd/ipod and 1 minute dance routine/set.
Come dressed comfortably in proper dance gear and footwear (no bare feet, work shoes or heels!).
First segment of audition will consist of performing your own prepared dance routine.
Second segment will consist of learning/performing a basic sequence taught in a group setting.
